Blue Cross and Blue Shield provides a number of insurance plans throughout the United States. Depending on your state, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) provides Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans, network provider (PPO) plans, combined PPO and Health Savings Account (HSA) plans, and Indemnity plans (non-network coverage). These plans (with regional changes) may be available on either a group basis to employers for their employees or as individual or family packages or, in some regions, as both group and individual plans. For seniors, and depending on your state, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) offers various plans, including nationwide Medicare supplemental insurance (non-BCBS-network) and BCBS-in-network (local) Medicare supplemental insurance.
